THE VIEW FROM MY WORLD

This past week the news that has dominated the media is the racist statement that shock jock Imus said last week about the women's basketball team. Personally I think this was totally uncalled for and Mr. Imus should and did apologize for his statement and he went out of his way to be a guest on Rev. Al Sharpton's show on Monday afternoon and plans on meeting with the Rutugers basketball team.

The ironic part of this situation is that both Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson that are both men of the cloth and who are strongly have called for Mr. Imus' firing have not once mentioned about forgiving this man. They only seem to want to give him a "public hanging." It's unfortunate that we live in a society that can't forgive someone for their trangessions but how many times does God forgive us for the disgusting actions that we see being done in this country every single day that we call the home of the free and the brave. America, let's get our act together and start looking at our own faults and stop pointing at the faults of our brothers and sisters.

Sometimes it's best to let God do the talking:

"Why do you notice the splinter in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove that splinter from your eye,' while the wooden beam is in your eye? You hypocrite, remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother's eye." (Mt 7:3-5)

Although you have to admit, it's easier said than done...

Our brothers and sisters seemed to have the "ME" syndrome. Only "I" can react to "YOUR" offense.
When each of us are thinking only of ourselves it is impossible to forgive.
May we all try to take time to "ask for forgiveness"when we offend someone, and forgive those who offend us.
Peace,
Pat B
