ASH WEDNESDAY

Happy Lent and I hope you got in all those meats, desserts, cigarettes, t.v shows, or whatever you are sacrificing this Lent. During this Lent I will have a meditation each day so come back and get your daily dose of Lent.

From the moment he created us, God wanted nothing more than to open the gates of heaven for us. He wanted his love to fall from heaven like a rain shower upon thristy ground. But our hearts became hardened and closed by sin. So Jesus took our nature upon himself and brought it with him to the cross. Not only did he atone for our individual sins, he put to death our own self-centered nature (Romans 6:6)

God wants to bring freedom into every part of our lives this Lent. He wants his grace to surrond us and penetrate us, to warm our hearts, and transform our minds. He knows our needs. he knows our weakenesses. He knows our desires---both good and bad---and he will hold nothing good from us as we turn to him prayer. When we admit our weakness and frailty---when we pray, "Lord I need your grace! I need you!--he will heal us and change us.

Hey Fr. Phil-- you should recommend this website here to people: http://www.creighton.edu/CollaborativeMinistry/Lent/index.html Post it on your blog or something. It's really, really good and helped a LOT last year. But if you're going to recommend it to people, do it soon because it has a whole section on preparing for Lent that it would probably be good to start sometime in the next few days. Ok. I'm just going around right now recommending that website to everyone who'll listen. Thanks for listening! :-)
